Let's create something together
Gerald Low is an architectural designer based in Melbourne, with a keen interest in the intersection of architectural theory and digital methodologies. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne (2024) and was previously recognised on the university's Dean’s List in 2019. During his studies, he developed a strong focus on adaptive reuse, a theme he explored deeply in his master’s thesis, Démontage.
Currently practising as a Graduate of Architecture at BKK Architects, Gerald applies a thoughtful, research-driven approach to his daily work. His spatial interests span both the physical and the digital, ranging from 3D-printed facade studies to detailed, AI-driven visualisations. Beyond standard architectural practice, Gerald draws on his background in full-stack web development and ‘vibe coding’ to build custom digital inventory and knowledge management platforms, helping to improve operational efficiency within his studio.
His speculative design work has been recognised internationally. He received an honourable mention in the Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition in 2023, and the project was recently featured twice in 2025 across two different publications, including a+u (Architecture and Urbanism) magazine. Another notable project, Held Between Eucalyptus and Walls, was awarded second prize in Buildner's Home for the Terminally Ill competition and was subsequently exhibited at the Australian Health Design Conference 2025.
Gerald is also deeply engaged in fostering a supportive and equitable design community. At BKK Architects, he leads the studio's Culture Club and is an active member of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group. Beyond the practice, he will be contributing to the broader discipline as a Graduate Juror for the Small Project category in the 2026 Victorian Architecture Awards.
Grounded by an appreciation for material logic and technical craft, Gerald enjoys exploring how architecture and digital tools can continually adapt to better serve our built environment.
